Functional Impairment
Screening
Drug and alcohol testing can only detect substances. It cannot detect fatigue. It cannot detect illness. It cannot detect the effects of stress, prescribed medication, or psychosocial distress — all of which can impair a worker's ability to perform safely. DRUID® was built to address that gap directly.
DRUID® is a one-minute functional impairment assessment delivered via smartphone or tablet. It measures cognitive and psychomotor performance — the same capabilities that underpin safe task execution — and compares each worker's result against their own personal baseline. If performance falls significantly below that baseline, an elevated impairment risk flag is generated, regardless of cause.
DRUID® is not a drug test. It does not identify substances. It does not diagnose the cause of impairment. It provides an objective, repeatable signal that something may be affecting a worker's functional capacity — giving supervisors the basis for early, proportionate intervention before an incident occurs.
Why Baseline Comparison Matters
An elevated DRUID® result is not a finding or a disciplinary trigger. It is an early indicator that warrants a structured supervisor response: supervised retest, observation, interview, and proportionate action based on the totality of indications. A decision flow chart supports consistency at every step.
Every worker performs differently. A fixed threshold test will miss the worker whose natural baseline is high, and may flag a worker who simply performs lower as a matter of course. DRUID® compares each person to themselves — making the assessment genuinely individual, reducing false positives, and improving the reliability of every elevated result.
Assessment Duration
~60Sec
~Fast enough for pre-start use. Rigorous enough to support safety-critical decisions. Objective enough to stand up under scrutiny.
→ What DRUID® Measures
Reaction time and processing speed
Hand-eye coordination and motor precision
Balance and postural stability
Short-term cognitive processing capacity
Composite score vs personal baseline
→ Impairment Sources Detected
Fatigue and sleep deprivation
Illness and physical condition
Stress and psychological load
Prescribed medication side effects
Psychosocial hazard exposure
Substance-related functional decline
→ Baseline-first. Scalable from day one.
Each worker establishes a personal baseline through three consecutive practice tests in a supervised session. All future assessments are measured against that individual's own reference — not a population average.
↗ Choose Device Model
Deploy DRUID® on shared site tablets, workers' personal smartphones, or a combination — whichever suits the operational context and workforce type.
→ BrAC Audit Trail — What's Recorded
An elevated DRUID® result triggers a structured supervisor response — not an immediate disciplinary action. The platform guides the supervisor through every step.
Supervised retest under direct observation
Structured interview and welfare check
Decision pathway based on totality of indicators
Proportionate action — early support through to stand-down
Full record created regardless of outcome
Every breath alcohol test — from first reading to final close-out — documented, defensible, and consistent.
